Subject: LPR client wlprspl v4.0 problems
I'm using the LPR client by th.heil. Nice winsock app
but I'm having "system" problems printing from DRAW, ABC
flow charter and some Word docs that I didn't have
problems with when printing via the parallel port:
Printer = : HP-IVM (the large PS printer)
Windows printer driver=HP-4/4M off the WFWG3.11 floppies.
The wslprspl.dll print mode is =formated print job
I gried raw and print_un-filtered with similar results:
1) Some printouts seem to have missgin text, miss placed
text.
2) Some printouts the printer driver seemed to turn a
DRAW drawing into a large pixel file and the printer
complains of "printer over-run" and the printout is cut in
half cutting a line of text, which doesn't deem possible
if the print file is either PS or PCL??
3) changing the driver to HP-III (PCL-4/5) changes the
miss-behaviors to (at-times) more exagerated mis-placed
text and wrong fonts/pt sizes etc??
Does anyone have insightes here.
If you could duel post (e-mail and post to this group
for others, I'd appreciate it)
Thanks..

I just upgraded to WFW 3.11(VxD beta 2 TCP/IP) from Windows 3.1(Trumpet
Winsock) and have been very satisfied with the followings results.
-More conventional memory (600k+ even with our network running)
-Quicker disk access Due to 32 bit file access
-Compatability with all Winsock apps I run (except the new 32bit Mosaic)
-Very stable
-Some nice new network and file manager features along with various other
enhancements.
Good Luck!

I get similar errors at different locations (ie the GPF can be at different
addresses). They always seemed to be from the "Select Extended View" box,
so I configured WSGopher not to ask and it works much better. Click on
Configuration, then on User Options, then select the first option (to have
it select the view automatically). This still implies a bug, but with 0.9
you couldn't get the extended options anyhow! I guess there wasn't much
testing to a Gopher+ server. (I used Sunsite.unc.edu for my testing)
I'm still experimenting but WSGopher 1.0 looks good otherwise. It solved a
problem that I was having getting to Sunsite's second level menus. It would
be nice to be able to add a bookmark within the Edit Bookmarks dialog box.
